POV: Cas / Dean

June 21, 2004

We were moving in today! The house was completed over the weekend and today was the first time that Dean and I would see the finished product. This house was already packed up and our stuff had been moved to the garage area, where it was stored until the house was ready and we could actually go inside. From the outside it looked awesome.

There was very little that we had left here which at the moment was just a suitcase of clothes, an air mattress, and our phones. All of this would go today with us. We had cleaned up last night and had very little to do today before we left. This is probably why I was awake so early but I was just admiring my hand on his chest with that gold band sitting there.

Dean hadn’t even told anyone that he was asking, so when we told people they were surprised. Which made my heart full. Everyone we told was in support of it. Charlie wanted to help plan but we hadn’t considered a date yet, although May 25th sounded like a good day to me.

I felt his hand tighten around mine before he smiled.

“Good morning, Sunshine.”

“Morning.”

“Are you excited?”

“I am counting on an actual bed tonight.”

“Sorry to disappoint but our new bedroom set doesn’t arrive until tomorrow.”

“But…my old bed is there and we can set it up temporarily.”

“That is a great idea.”

It took us both a little bit of time to get woken up before we got up and got busy. Cleaning up the last bit that needed it and then putting the last few items in the car. The property owner met us at noon and we went through together, it would get my security deposit back and allow me to turn in our keys. Dean waited in the car and by one we were ready to head home.

Home. This house had been my home for many years and I didn’t know if I would ever share it with anyone. But the house was my past, it held bad memories. It was time to have some good ones now. I finally got in the Impala and smiled at Dean.

“Let’s go home.”

*Dean*

I’d waited patiently because I knew leaving a place you called home for so long was hard. Having mine taken away had been hard. However, I was getting a new home and someone to share it with. Once he slipped into the seat he smiled, saying we needed to go home. I smiled at him.

“Let’s.”

Once I was on the road I reached for his hand and he held it out, taking mine.

“Is there anything we have to do inside?” He asked.

“No. Just set up and unpack.”

“Nice. How long will that take?”

“Weeks.”

He giggled. “Probably.”

I could feel the cool feel of the ring on his hand, something that said he agreed to be my husband. I couldn’t have asked for a better reaction from my family though, they were all very happy about it. I’d been so damn nervous about his saying no, I was so glad he didn’t. I finally parked Baby in the driveway. There was no room in the garage after clearing his house and anything I’d been able to save. Plus, some things had been delivered like bookcases for his office, his new desk as well and those we were putting together.

This was the first time that either of us would be seeing inside, because we wanted it to be that way. But I held him back before he could rush in.

“Dean?”

I just smiled as I unlocked the sliding glass doors that we would not use all the time, but the garage door was well; it was hidden at the moment. He was confused obviously but I got his hand.

“I should carry you in, the whole threshold thing.”

“Is that what you want to do Dean?”

“Yes.”

“Well, we know you can pick me up.”

I picked him up with ease and carried him inside our home. It was a blank canvas for us to fill with memories, to set up how we both wanted, to grow and love together. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
